Everything is controlled by On-board Computer (OBC). It processes commands received from Earth, monitors power budget, automatically does tasks based on built-in schedule and receives data from camera(s).
OBC team’s task is to select an OBC for the PW-Sat2 satellite. The second OBC team’s task is to provide an on-board software.
Finally, the CubeComputer from ESL was selected. It is based on a high performance, low power 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3. The OBC contains EEPROM, flash, SRAM and MicroSD memories. All subsystems are controlled with 2xI2C interfaces. Both pre-installed Real Time Operating (RTOS) and bootloader are provided by ESL.
